The short answer
- Tuition depends far more on the university than on the city. For the same one-year MSc Business Analytics, we found fees from £19,450 (Greenwich, London) to £41,500 (Warwick, Coventry).
- London's extra cost is mostly rent and transport. Queen Mary's halls start at £176.75 a week, Coventry University's en-suite rooms at £154, and the University of Manchester estimates £836 a month for private rent with bills.
- The Home Office's figure is a floor, not a budget. For visa applications from 30 November 2026 you must show £1,570 a month in London or £1,203 elsewhere, for up to 9 months. Manchester's own estimate of living costs is £1,510 a month.
- Our sample one-year totals run from about ₹45.5 lakh (Coventry University) to ₹73.6 lakh (Warwick), at ₹127.60 = £1 (FBIL reference rate, 30 October 2026).
"How much will it cost?" is usually the first question parents ask, and the honest answer is a range. We priced a one-year Master's in three places Indian students often choose: London, Manchester and Coventry. To keep it fair, we used the same subject (an MSc in Business Analytics) at two universities in each city, and official figures for everything else.
All pound amounts were checked on official university, government and Transport for London pages in October 2026. Rupee amounts use ₹127.60 = £1, the FBIL reference rate published by the Reserve Bank of India on 30 October 2026. A weaker rupee will push every number up.
Tuition: the university matters more than the city
| City | University and course | International fee | In rupees |
|---|---|---|---|
| London | Queen Mary University of London, MSc Business AnalyticsSeptember 2027 entry | £36,950 | ≈ ₹47.1 lakh |
| University of Greenwich, MSc Business Analytics2026/27, Greenwich campus | £19,450 | ≈ ₹24.8 lakh | |
| Manchester | University of Manchester, MSc Business Analytics and AISeptember 2026 entry; 2027 fees not yet set | £35,700 | ≈ ₹45.6 lakh |
| Manchester Metropolitan University, MSc Business AnalyticsPer year; starts from January 2027 | £21,000 | ≈ ₹26.8 lakh | |
| Coventry | University of Warwick, MSc Business Analytics2027 entry | £41,500 | ≈ ₹53.0 lakh |
| Coventry University, MSc Business AnalyticsStarts from November 2026 | £19,500 | ≈ ₹24.9 lakh |
The gap inside each city (about £15,000 to £22,000) is far bigger than the gap between cities. If cost is your main concern, the choice of university will move your total more than the choice of city. Most universities also offer scholarships that reduce the fee.
Rent: where London costs more
| City | What we found | A year's rent at the lowest price |
|---|---|---|
| London | Queen Mary halls, 2026-27: single rooms from £176.75 to £329.07 a week, bills included. Postgraduate contracts run 51 weeks. | £9,014≈ ₹11.5 lakh |
| Manchester | University of Manchester estimate for 2026/27: £836 a month for private accommodation including utilities | £10,000≈ ₹12.8 lakh |
| Coventry | Coventry University halls, 2026/27: en-suite rooms from £154 a week, studios up to £232, bills included. Postgraduate contracts run 50 weeks. | £7,700≈ ₹9.8 lakh |
These are the cheapest rooms. Studios and newer private halls cost more, and cheap rooms go first. Our accommodation guide covers how to find and book a room.
Food and travel
Food. The University of Manchester's 2026/27 estimate is £250 a month for groceries and £51 for takeaways, based on a weekly budget supermarket shop priced in April 2026. That works out to roughly ₹38,400 a month. Coventry University's example budget for a student in its halls puts food at about £60 a week (prices as of January 2025). We found no official London figure, so use Manchester's as a planning number and expect London to be a little higher.
Travel.
- London: an adult monthly Travelcard for Zones 1–2 costs £171.70 at 2026 prices. If you qualify for an 18+ Student Oyster photocard (a £22 one-off fee), you save 30% on Travelcards, which brings it to about £120 a month (≈ ₹15,300). Live further out and it costs more.
- Manchester: the university estimates £70 a month for transport (≈ ₹8,900).
- Coventry: Coventry University's own example budget for a student in its halls lists travel as minimal, because the hall is within walking distance of campus (January 2025 figures).
What the visa says you need
For a Student visa you must show the course fees still unpaid for your first year (the amount on your CAS) plus living costs for up to 9 months. The money must be in your account for 28 days in a row, ending within 31 days of your visa application. The living-cost amounts rise on 30 November 2026:
| Where you study | Per month | For 9 months | In rupees |
|---|---|---|---|
| London (the City and the 32 London boroughs) | £1,570 | £14,130 | ≈ ₹18.0 lakh |
| Outside London (Manchester, Coventry) | £1,203 | £10,827 | ≈ ₹13.8 lakh |
Visa applications made before 30 November 2026 use the old amounts: £1,529 (London) and £1,171 (outside London) a month.
One-off costs people forget
| Item | Amount | In rupees |
|---|---|---|
| Student visa fee (from outside the UK) | £558 | ≈ ₹71,200 |
| Immigration Health Surcharge£776 a year; a visa of more than 1 year and up to 18 months costs 1.5 years | £1,164 | ≈ ₹1.49 lakh |
| TB test (required for applicants from India) | Set by the clinic | — |
| Flights, deposits for rent, a laptop, winter clothes | Varies | — |
| Later: Graduate visa to work after your degreePlus a health surcharge of £1,035 a year | £937 | ≈ ₹1.20 lakh |
The Graduate visa lasts 18 months if you apply on or after 1 January 2027, which covers anyone starting a one-year Master's from now on.
Putting it together: a sample year
Here is a 12-month total for each course above: tuition, plus 12 months of living costs at the Home Office monthly rate for that city, plus the visa fee and health surcharge (for a visa of more than a year and up to 18 months). It leaves out flights, the TB test and anything you'll spend before you leave.
| Course | Tuition | Living (12 months) | Visa + IHS | Total | In rupees |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Coventry University | £19,500 | £14,436 | £1,722 | £35,658 | ≈ ₹45.5 lakh |
| Manchester Metropolitan | £21,000 | £14,436 | £1,722 | £37,158 | ≈ ₹47.4 lakh |
| Greenwich (London) | £19,450 | £18,840 | £1,722 | £40,012 | ≈ ₹51.1 lakh |
| University of Manchester | £35,700 | £14,436 | £1,722 | £51,858 | ≈ ₹66.2 lakh |
| Queen Mary (London) | £36,950 | £18,840 | £1,722 | £57,512 | ≈ ₹73.4 lakh |
| Warwick (Coventry) | £41,500 | £14,436 | £1,722 | £57,658 | ≈ ₹73.6 lakh |
Living costs use £1,570 a month for London and £1,203 a month elsewhere. Using Manchester's own estimate of £1,510 a month instead would add about £3,700 (≈ ₹4.7 lakh) to the Manchester and Coventry totals.
How to bring the number down
- Shortlist by fee as well as rank. The same subject can cost half as much a few miles away. Start when you search UK business analytics programs.
- Apply for scholarships early. Many are first come, first served. See our scholarships guide.
- Take the student travel discount in London, and pick housing near campus elsewhere.
- Plan the loan around the 28-day rule. The visa funds must sit in an account for 28 days, so the money has to arrive earlier than you think. Read our education loans and forex and banking guides.
- Check the IELTS requirement before paying for a pre-sessional course. Our list of data science Master's that accept IELTS 6.0 shows how much these vary.
